Water as mediators between Earth and Cosmos. On the morning of March 20, 2015, a near-total solar eclipse was visible from Ireland. Over 90% of the Sun was be obscured as the Moon passes between it and the Earth. The eclipse started at 8:24am, reached maximum eclipse at 9:28am, and finished at 10:36am. Waters were collected from Glenade Lough through the reflection of the eclipse. This essence helps one to become more aware of their spiritual path. It helps to release pain that we are holding; there can be a fear in releasing known pain and a fear of the lightness of our being. Eclipses can give
 us the benefits a reevaluation of our life and awareness to see what we might need to let go. We may experience fear, worry, tendency to complain and whine, sensitivity and hyper reaction to “injustice”. We should be aware of our own emotions and those of the others and realize that the behaviour of others might not be what they really mean. The situations we encounter around the eclipse time tempt us to react negatively, create a conflict, or argue. The best position is to be a witness. An eclipse can be considered to be a door that breaks our bond with the past. We currently use our senses to interpret nature, and not in the way I feel nature had first evolved: to act as receivers, permitting us to stand back within the presence, the potentiality for the vibrational expression of matter and to feel and receive and relish the sounds, smells, sights, tastes and touch of all that is. Anticipating the presence of an observer to engage in a co-creative dance within a transitional sea of potentiality, a potentiality that forms the core of the Earth. Although we are tiny, we feel the Universe.

This essence is all about awareness over effort. It is for those who are unable to function in society due to overwhelming emotion; for those who are depressed, and have a fear of illness. It helps to hold the essence when you are so low in energy that you can’t think or speak or even seem to feel. It helps to wear the remedy when you feel like you are losing your mind, losing grounding within one’s soul being. It helps those who are stagnant, who are stuck and have no flow, having lost one’s sparkle. It is for people who cannot be inside, who need to be outdoors in nature. It is also for those who feel like they can’t get clean which is generally linked to parasites in the system. It is for when you are feeling really full and have a desire to be alone. The world is too much to bear sometimes for light beings. There is a deep chest pain with this heartache.

San Juan Essence: For deep physical pain which comes from the polluted waters in all its forms, the pain of watching one’s water source become polluted, the pain one would feel after drinking it or washing in it.

Its strong heart-based essence helps release your fears, which are sometimes disguised as toxic emotions like anger or resentment.

There is a mix of Cedar from a ceremony in this essence.

Cedar Essence: Hope embodied. It is an essence of transformation to be used on the land as well as for people. It helps to lift off dark and heavy thoughts and feelings and to bring a lightness to your being. It is also for those who listen but do not hear. It is a spinal essence for ascending energy and brings structural support to the body as well as the soil.

This water was collected while traveling with the Land Arts of the American West Program, as part of the University of NewMexico’s Art & Ecology Program. At that time the artists of Land Arts were staying with the Dine people and had the great fortune of getting to work with and learn from indigenous elders and educators.

While there, we learned of an environmental catastrophe that occurred in August 2015, when workers from the US Environmental Protection Agency mistakenly punctured a holding tank of mine tailings at the Gold King Mine in Silverton, Colorado, releasing over 3 million gallons of toxic waste into the Animas River, a tributary of the San Juan River that runs through Navajo Nation and nourishes all aspects of life. The spill greatly damaged the environment, as the released waste contained thousands of pounds of dangerous and highly toxic heavy metals.

The impact was felt deeply by the local indigenous Diné people, who not only rely on the San Juan River for drinkingand crop irrigation but also view water as a living being integral to their community and way of life. As farms went fallow and losses accrued on the Navajo Nation, their very spiritual belief system and world view were compromised because they were not able to use water from the river.
